Explore the beautiful city of Athens, the birthplace of Greek mythology, gods, and temples. You’ll have a guided tour of Delphi, the most famous ancient Greek temple, as well as to the Acropolis, the symbol of Ancient Greek culture, and the Parthenon, the marble temple dedicated to the Greek Goddess Athena. End the tour with a sunset trip to Cape Sounion & the Temple of Poseidon.
Arrive in Athens, and depending on your arrival time, enjoy some free time to explore the city. We recommend going up Lycabettus Hill, Athen’s highest point, to watch the sunset. You’ll have a view overlooking the city, its most famous landmarks, and the Aegean Sea.
Today, you’ll have a full-day guided tour of the center of the Ancient Greek world and the oracle’s site, Delphi. You’ll get a great insight into their world, discovering ancient ruins, including the amphitheater and the Temple of Apollo, followed by a museum tour and lunch (included).
Start the day off with a guided tour of the Acropolis, the ancient citadel, led by an experienced archeologist.
You will explore the Theater of Dionysus, regarded by some as the birthplace of the performing arts, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, a theater still in use from May to October, and enter the healing temple of Asclepius, the god of medicine.
You will then enter the Parthenon and learn all there is to know about the famous temple and, finally, the Acropolis museum, where you’ll marvel at the collections of statues.
What next? Spend your evening watching the sun setting over the Aegean Sea on Cape Sounion, followed by a tour of the Temple of Poseidon, built in 440bc and dedicated to Poseidon, master of the sea.
Before your flight, you may have some time to explore more. We recommend the hop-on-bus tour to see parts of the city you may have yet to see.
