Petra
Take a visit to one of the world’s greatest ancient cities, Petra is a place that is guaranteed to take your breath away. The city was once a thriving trading center between the years of 400 BC and 106 AD. Petra has unique architecture, it is a city with stunning buildings and monuments that have been carved completely out of the high cliffs. Walk through the stunning Treasury Square and marvel at the sights when you visit The Siq.
The Siq – Petra
This is a passage that spans 1.2km, cut directly out of rock. The rocks reach up to 80 meters and is one of the more mysterious parts of Jordan. The Siq leads to the fascinating ancient ruins that draw many visitors.
Bab el Siq
This is the gate of the Siq and is a more modern development within this ancient corner of petra. The gate will lead you to the Treasury and is the most convenient way for tourists to access the visitors centre.
The Treasury
You cannot visit Petra without visiting its star attraction. The Treasury is an architectural wonder. You are guaranteed to be impressed by its excellently intact ancient ruins. Its interior is even more impressive. It is believed to have been a hiding spot of great treasures and you can even spot bullet holes in the structure, from when Bedouin tribesmen tried to storm the building.
Dead Sea
Journey to the lowest point on earth, and experience what 418 meters of land below sea level might look like. The Dead Sea is well known for its rich mineral waters. Many people who journey here love nothing more than taking a dip in the turquoise waters. Locals often whisper that the sea has healing properties. We cannot possibly comment on the legitimacy of this, one thing we know for certain is that anyone who swims in the Dead Sea leaves the turquoise waters feeling refreshed and their skin is glowing.
Amman Beach
Located along The Dead Sea, why not spend a day basking in the sun in this truly unique and wonderful attraction. There are many spas and resorts located along the northwestern coastline. Roman ruins in Amman
You don’t need to veer far away from Jordan to see stunning archaeological finds. Explore one of the most popular archaeological ruins right in the capital city of Jordan. The Amman Citadel is one of the most celebrated finds and attracts many visitors. Here you will find the last remaining pillars of what once was the Temple of Hercules. The pillars predate the once Roman-ruled city named Philadelphia, almost 2,000 years ago.
Jerash Ruins
If you’ve been to the Roman ruins in Amman and are still looking for more history-based attractions, look no further than the Jerash Ruins. These are regarded as one of the best-preserved roman ruled cities in all the world. Here you will walk through epic ruins of what was once the amphitheater, Hadrian’s arches, and the Temple of Zeus. If you don’t mind walking and love being in the sun this is the perfect place for you. There isn’t a lot of shade to be found so be mindful that a day spent here will be a day in the sun!
Mount Nebo
This is one of the top-rated biblical attractions. A jewel amongst the biblical sites, this is believed to be the exact place where Moses saw the promised land before his death. The relic that sits above Mount Nebo is a group of mosaics wrapped around a serpentine cross. The Mount offers stunning views overlooking the Dead Sea and is a perfect place to catch epic views overlooking Jordan.
Wadi Mujib
You might think of this attraction as Jordan’s version of the Grand Canyon. Wadi Mujib spans across the Desert Highway, 70 kilometers around the Dead Sea. This is the perfect place to hike and enjoy a day in one of Jordan’s most stunning natural wonders. The gorge is unique and a breathtaking sight. The Wadi Mujib is excellently located, being only a sheer 30 minutes outside of the capital city, Amman.
