Boston Common and the Public garden
Visit America’s first botanical garden and oldest public park, founded in 1634. The park was originally designed for the purpose of promenading but has since acquired newer features such as a monitor village, flower beds, and even a petite lagoon with a bridge going across it. The scenery is stunning and is a piece of tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. Across from Beacon street is Boston Common, depending on the season you can enjoy softball, tennis, frog ponds, and even take a swan boat out on the lake.
Isabella Stewart Gardner museum
Stop by this museum, the former home of American art collector Isabella Stewart Gardner. Her home was modeled after a Venetian palace and is a spectacular sight to behold. It’s a hidden gem in Boston that is not to be missed! The arrangement of the museum remains untouched by the original arrangements made by Gardner herself. You will see the empty frames that once beheld priceless works of art that were stolen from the museum in 1990. There is also a stunning flower garden that remains in bloom all year round.
Hiking in Boston
When you think about going on a hike, you may think of more serious national parks such as the white mountains or other such places. If you want to soak up nature and stunning scenery, you can do so right from the heart of Boston. Take a trip to the 7,000-acre Blue Hills Reservation and hike through the stunning natural landscapes. You can climb to the top of Blue Hill and take in the stunning views overlooking the hub.
Fenway Park
You won’t want to miss a day at Fenway Park. The park was founded in 1912 and has been home to the Boston Red Sox baseball team ever since. You won’t want to miss a day out here. Fenway Park has hosted the world series game 11 times and is certainly an epic day out to see a game. The stadium has undergone a number of works and reconstructions. The stadium has a seating capacity of just under 38,000 people.
Have a drink at an authentic Irish pub
You might feel as though you’ve been transported to Ireland when walking through the doors of one of these authentic Irish pubs. Fear not, you’re still in Boston. Take a walk into one of the Irish pubs and have a drink of whatever your heart desires. Boston is full of Irish ex-pats and Irish-Americans. The drink is not all that these pubs have to offer. You can enjoy a trivia night with your friends and family, or even enjoy a performance of live Irish music.
Tour the infamous Harvard University
It’s not just ivy league students and gawking tourists roaming around the halls. On a tour of the famous Harvard University, you will encounter the stunning architecture and gather a vivid picture of who’s-who in American history. The building was designed by luminaries such as Bulfinch, Le Corbusier (his only American building), and Sert. It’s also worth noting that the campus is located a short few steps away from the best shopping and dining options in town!
Great food to be had in Chinatown
Chinatown is one of Boston’s most unique neighborhoods. The best Chinese restaurants can be found here and are not worth missing. If you’re a foodie then you won’t want to miss out on sampling authentic Asian cuisine here. Rather than having one big meal, walk around Chinatown and sample the different snacks and cuisines as you go. From dumplings to seafood at the notable Fish Farm. A walk down to this part of Boston is not to be missed!
Boston Marathon
If you’re visiting Boston around springtime then you may get the opportunity to watch the Boston marathon. Spectate on the runners passing by and even cheer them on in support. The marathon attracts 30,000 runners and thousands of tourists per year. Immerse yourself in the Boston community spirit and have a look for yourself!
Franklin Park Zoo
A local favorite, this kid-friendly zoo is a quaint attraction located in the city. You may have seen animals in documentaries on your tv screen but we can guarantee it is even better seeing them up close and in real life. See the host of animals that live here, from exotic breeds to giraffes, gorillas, lions, and zebras. You are sure to see something you wouldn’t normally see in any other zoo.
