This 8-day tour will take you from Iceland’s famous, all-green-energy capital of Reykjavik to the country’s volcanic west and beautifully rugged south.
You’ll get to see many of Iceland’s many popular attractions including the Blue Lagoon, the Golden Circle route, and even the mesmerizing Northern Lights.
Once you arrive in Reykjavik you’ll have plenty of time to settle in before your tour starts the next day. If your plane arrives early, you can always explore the city on your own.
We recommend that you visit the famous and quirky Ice Bar (excluded from the tour price) in the city center. The bar is full of ice sculptures depicting Iceland’s Viking heritage, and there are plenty of options on the menu to enjoy.
Today you’ll officially start your tour with an incredible whale watching experience. You’ll travel to Rekjevavik’s old harbor where you’ll embark on a mini trip that’ll take you to the best places to spot both whales and other intriguing marine life native to the Atlantic Ocean.
Your ship will be equipped with a cafe so you can sit with a coffee and enjoy the 360-degree view of the sea outside.
Today you’ll enjoy an action-packed schedule that will take you along one of Iceland’s most famous roads and past its stunning landscapes before you end the evening relaxing in the legendary Blue Lagoon.
You’ll get to visit the fascinating Thingvellir National Park where you can actually see the Eurasian and American tectonic plates joining each other. Next, you’ll visit the breathtakingly beautiful Gullfoss Waterfall as well as the unique and photogenic Kerid Volcanic Crater.
You’ll end your tour at the Blue Lagoon, Iceland’s most famous attraction. Known for its entrancing blue waters and fabled healing properties, this perfectly heated geothermal lake is the perfect place to unwind.
Today you’ll visit the south of Iceland where beautiful landscapes stretch in every direction, made up of roaring waterfalls, black sand beaches, and icy glaciers intermingling with lush green valleys.
The day begins at the magnificent waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss where you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photos of the dramatic surroundings. Next, you’ll travel to Sólheimajökull where the frozen water of the glacier creates an equally imposing visage.
You’ll also stop at Iceland’s southernmost village for a traditional lunch filled with delicious local delicacies to try, before heading to the unique black sand beaches that characterize the southern coast of Iceland.
Today you’ll discover the wonders of west Iceland, inducing the Silver Circle route, more roaring waterfalls, deep canyons, and bubbling hot volcanic springs.
One of your first stops will be at Deildartunguhver which is the most powerful hot spring in Europe and provides enough geothermal energy to support many of the local villages.
You’ll also visit the beautiful waterfalls of Hraunfossar, Langfoss, and Barnafoss and then have the opportunity to soak in the rejuvenating Husafell Canyon Baths. Finally, you’ll visit the medieval home of Icelandic historian Snorri Sturluson, which has its very own hot spring that locals have been using since the 12th century.
The Aurora Borealis or ‘northern lights’ have long been lauded as one of the world’s most amazing and beautiful natural phenomena, and Iceland is one of the best places to see this spectacle for yourself.
You’ll learn all about the scientific reasons behind these dancing lights as you leave Reykjavik by bus in favor of the Icelandic countryside where no artificial lights interfere with seeing this wonderful display * Only available for trips between September and April
Today you’ll explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, a beautiful area famous for being the setting of Jules Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
Highlights of the day include the stunning Snaefellsnes Glacier, the majestic Kirkjufell Mountain, and Iceland’s signature volcanic black sand beaches.
You’ll also have a chance to visit the charming traditional fishing villages of Grundarfjordur, Arnarstapi, and Hellnar where you can meet the locals and try some authentic Icelandic cuisine.
Today will be the last day of your trip and you’ll depart from Reykjavik with plenty of stories to share when you get home.
